Finding time for required training is a constant struggle for healthcare professionals. Between shift changes, patient rounds, and personal commitments, scheduling a full day for an instructor-led classroom course often feels impossible. You need a solution that fits your schedule, not the other way around.
That solution is now available in Los Gatos. Safety Training Seminars offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS at our local office at 236 N Santa Cruz Ave Suite 246. This innovative approach combines adaptive online learning with a high-tech, self-guided skills session, allowing you to maintain compliance without sacrificing your day off.
Traditional training models are rigid. You sit in a classroom for hours, often reviewing material you already know, waiting for your turn to practice on a manikin. While effective, it isn’t efficient.
Self-Guided Learning™ courses change this dynamic. They respect your existing knowledge and your time. This method splits the course into two distinct parts:
This isn’t just “online training.” It is a rigorous, American Heart Association-approved pathway that results in the exact same Course Completion eCard as a traditional classroom session. The difference lies in the delivery, not the outcome.
The cognitive portion of these courses uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology is a game-changer for experienced medical professionals.
Most e-learning forces you to click through every slide, regardless of your proficiency. True Adaptive™ technology works differently. It continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence levels in real-time.
This personalized learning pathway ensures you spend your time where it matters most—filling knowledge gaps. You can access this content on any compatible device, whether you are at home, in the break room, or at a coffee shop.
Once you complete the online portion, you head to our Los Gatos office at 236 N Santa Cruz Ave Suite 246 for your skills session. This is where the CPR Verification Station™ comes into play.
A CPR Verification Station™ is a specialized learning center equipped with voice-assisted manikins. You do not need to schedule an appointment with an instructor. You simply access the station and begin your session.
The station provides real-time, objective performance feedback. As you perform compressions and ventilations, sensors inside the manikin measure your rate, depth, recoil, and hand placement against American Heart Association standards.
This eliminates the subjectivity of human observation. The machine doesn’t have “good days” or “bad days.” It verifies your skills based purely on data. If your compressions are too shallow, the system tells you immediately. If your rate is too fast, it guides you to slow down.
You practice until you get it right. You can repeat the skills activity as often as required to achieve a passing score. This ensures that every professional leaving the station has physically demonstrated high-quality CPR competence.
We offer the full suite of essential American Heart Association courses through this modality.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation of resuscitation. The HeartCode® Complete course for BLS covers:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is critical for professionals in emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units. This course emphasizes:
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) prepares you to respond to critically ill or injured children. The curriculum includes:
It is important to understand the terminology here to ensure you select the right training for your needs.
HeartCode® Complete is a course-based model. It is designed for individuals who need to renew their provider status every two years. You complete the full cognitive portion and the full skills session, and you receive a new American Heart Association Course Completion eCard valid for two years.
Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®) is different. RQI® is a low-dose, high-frequency learning program adopted by some hospitals. It involves brief, quarterly skills activities to maintain competence.
At our Los Gatos location, we provide HeartCode® Complete. This is the standard initial or renewal pathway for professionals who are not enrolled in an employer-mandated RQI® program. If you need to renew your card on your own terms, HeartCode® Complete is the correct choice.
In the healthcare industry, precise language matters. You often hear peers talk about getting “certified” in BLS or ACLS. However, the American Heart Association does not issue “certifications.”
Upon successful completion of a Self-Guided Learning™ course, you receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard. This eCard serves as official verification that you have successfully completed the training and skills evaluation in accordance with AHA curriculum standards.
Employers and licensing boards universally accept this eCard. It proves you have met the rigorous standards set by the organization that writes the guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care.
Our office at 236 N Santa Cruz Ave Suite 246 is designed for convenience.
Ready to get started? Here is the simple learner journey:
You dedicate your career to caring for others. Your training should support that mission, not get in the way of it. Self-Guided Learning™ courses offer the perfect balance of rigor and flexibility. You get the highest quality education—powered by adaptive technology and objective feedback—on a timeline that works for you.
Stop stressing about finding a class that fits your shift rotation. Embrace the modern standard for healthcare training.

EXCELLENT Based on 170 reviews Posted on Jasmyn JansenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. rolled out of bed, followed their thorough directions in email to find suite, and like always this process was easy & efficient :) the infant cpr is easier for me LMAO my hands are tiny compared to the adult bag mask. worth the $70. support this woman owned cpr company! will be recommending to my coworkers ☺️Posted on WarrenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great place to learn cpr, it’s always good to know what your doingPosted on Felicia WashingtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Process is easy to follow.Posted on Caren HespelerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was great, but I think I’m the type of person who likes to have interaction with an instructor or a guide. I’ll now know how to use this method more effectively next time.Posted on Noa HarelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Completed my ACLS with RQI and it was a great experience! Online course was easy to follow and I liked that I could do it at my own pace. The in-person skills were just as convenient! The manikin is very easy to work with. Highly recommend!!Posted on Heather SilversTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am so disappointed & likely will not return. At the Los Gatos location, where I have been before & had good experiences with in the past, the company has failed to maintain their equipment. There are two stations & both had issues. On mannequin station A, rescue breathing was very difficult/ not showing my effort up on the screen when I was getting good chest rise on the mannequin. I know this is an area that many people struggle with, but I watched the videos prior to testing & I read the tips on the wall poster. During the two person CPR, I could not get any feedback on the screen for breaths. I closed & restarted multiple times, then I attempted to call for help. The phone number for help goes to a very unhelpful automated messaging system. And RQI answered the phone with a person, but they could not help me. I moved over to station B & successfully got through 2 person CPR testing, but then there were connection issues with the computer & my results were not going through for multiple minutes. I am thankful that I have over a decade of CPR practice & have done this human-less testing before. I also just returned from a 2 week long critical care training where we did 6+ scenarios of codes on mannequins with similar feedback technology. I want to strongly advocate for anyone that might be new to this kind of testing & feel awful for failing in a situation that is not their fault. Especially for the price, the lack of maintenance is unacceptable & needs to be addressed. Oh, and the hallway entrance was creepy.Posted on Kyle SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The written and practical portions were well done. The registration seems out of order asking to register for the practical before you register and purchase the on line education. It is only after you register for both that you find out how long the written/online portion is supposed to take. Registering for the on line and knowing how many hours it takes would help in knowing when to schedule the practical test. Especially if you are in a short time window to get it done.Posted on Scooter KleinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very convenient and everything went smoothly.Posted on Anda M.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ambu masks were leaking air and every time I would press it was overinflated or deflated less tha needed . 3 out of 4 were lose . same as adult manekins . I was veey frustrated that I had to spend so much time in the room, at the end I gave up and left . I stayed 2 hr , pushing like in idiot . I wish we can have normal live instructor class. I have BLC and ACLS certification over 10 years now and was never this hard. It wasnt my knowledge it was just crazy annoying to do ig on sensitive computer attached manekins . And Yes I dodnt know I can adjust the room temperature myself so I was completely wet frok physical CompressionsPosted on TatjanaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Overall it was a good experience. At the beginning it was very confusing with the virtual assistant’s instructions ( CLEARER instructions BEFORE starting needed on how EXACTLY two rescuer system works with virtual assistant. This way, it won’t take multiple times to do the round unless that was intentional. Overall, it was good.
